I listened to part or all of several local church services via YouTube from this last Sunday, all of the services mentioned the Kirk assassination. The pastor of the evangelical church was a Kirk fan and very upset, he appeared to blame 'The Left'. A Left leaning congragtion with several trans individuals in it opened the floor for congragents to express their feelings, the thoughts expressed where of the 'I didn't like him but he didn't deserve what happened to him' variety. One trans person expressed that their gut reaction when they first heard was that they were glad he died, but upon a few moments reflection realized that thought was unworthy and they are now trying to empathize with Kirk's family. The pastor at a mainline denomination mentioned that their congregation was politically diverse, that she didn't care what her listeners though about Kirk, whether they loved or hated him, but what happened to him was wrong, and she encouraged her flock to put down their smart phones and read their Bibles. It was interesting to get a pulse on local religious reaction to Charlie Kirk's murder, and I didn't hear any trivilazing of it.
